RIBBONS MAKE MAGIC

We are back and we're talking about RIBBONS!!!  No favor is really complete without fabulous ribbons to accent it.  Ribbons are one of the most important elements to any favor design or centerpiece.  Ribbons will bring your favors a kind of elegance and charm that most times can not be achieved without it.  Think about it, how many special events or occasions have you attended that didn't have some sort of ribbon being used for decorations or favors.

So, why add ribbons?  Ribbons, when turned into bows, can turn any dull or boring favor into a magical masterpiece.  And with so many different styles, patterns, textures, colors and sizes of ribbons out there, it's almost impossible to not find a ribbon that will compliment your favor or event.  Ribbons can vary in many different sizes from 1/8" to 4" wide. Naturally like anything else, when you are determining what size ribbon to use on a favor, you always want to make sure the ribbon is in proportion to the size of the favor you are creating.  There's nothing worst than having a small favor or centerpiece with big ribbon bows in the front.  You want the ribbons to stand out within the favor, not over shadow it.  There are many many tones and tints of colors to choose from like your blues, pinks and purples to yellows, greens and reds.  Of course choosing the right color ribbons will have a major impact on its "WOW" factor.

Ribbons also range in different patterns and textures.  Some ribbon patterns include polka dots, stripes, plaids, two-tone, animal prints and more.  So if you are the zebra or cheetah print kind of person, these prints are a great way to go when your creating favors for themed events.  Other patterns like plaids and stripes, depending on the color, are widely used for festive occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas.  And most common, the red, white and blue stripe for...that's right The 4th of July, which is literally right around the corner so make sure your ribbons are in order.  The texture of the ribbon is probably most key in choosing your ribbons for favors and events.  You have single and double face satin, picot edge, grosgrain, satin acetate and organza to name a few.  Single and double face satin ribbons are the most used ribbons when it comes to favors, decorating and packaging.  Both of these ribbons are satin which is what gives it that soft shiny appearance.  While single face ribbons are only shiny on one side, double face ribbons are shiny on both sides which explains the extra stiffness to it and increased elegance.  Both of these ribbons can be used in different ways that sometimes will boil down to which is more cost effective and most compliments the favors or decorations you are doing at the time.  While both of these ribbons are great for decorating favors, packages and centerpieces, when it comes to personalized ribbons, it's often better to use double face because of its stiffness and added elegance.

So the next time you are getting favors made, make sure you take time to add the right kind of ribbons.  And nothing goes better with ribbons than flowers and accessories which will be the focus of next week's blog.  Well folks, my time is up so until next time don't forget to visit our website at shop.occasionfavorz.com.  Happy Party Planning!

Favorz R Us

So...I'm sure everyone knows what a party favor is. Yeah, those cute little adorable gifts that your guests love to receive at the end of a party.  The beautiful thing about favors is not only the creativity that goes into but the uniqueness that comes out of it.  Party favors are intended to show your appreciation to your guests for taking time to come out and celebrate their wonderful event.  Whether it's for a baby shower, wedding or birthday, even the smallest favor is appreciated by your guests.  The key is to give the most stylish yet inexpensive favor that your guests will remember for its adorability.

One thing Occasion Favorz strives on is creating favors that will stand out and make a lasting impression on everyone.  So...let's talk favors.  We've found that favors are most popular for baby showers, sweet 16, quinceaneras and weddings.  Even though these tend to be the most popular, favors are still given at christenings, birthdays and anniversaries but for the most part usually people will have ribbons done which will be the foundation of next weeks topic.

Let's start with baby showers.  Favors created for baby showers usually take on soft colors like the most common, light pink, baby blue, lavender, mint and yellow.  This doesn't mean that you can't step out of the common box and go will bolder and brighter colors because they work as well.  Often certain colors placed together will make the design stand out while others will make it seem sort of confusing and just thrown together.  Which is the effect that you don't want your guests to remember.  If you got a chance to read our last blog, you should have gotten a chance to see some color patterns with our criss-cross design.  Again, these designs will make a beautiful addition to any favor.

Now, wedding favors will almost always take the color of white or ivory.  Some will use white and accent it with the colors of their wedding. Whichever is more appealing is up to you.  With wedding favors if you choose not to get the crafted favors, it's always good to go with something like a modern bottle topper or coaster set like the ones you see in the photo. Those are always great inexpensive favors.  The last most common favor is used for sweet 16 or quinceanera.  Unless you are absolutely bound to using white, you can pretty much use any color you want for these favors and get a great visual effect.  Bright cheery colors like blue, fuchsia, turquoise, red, purple, lime green, gold and silver are great for this.  These colors have a lotof energy and with the right patterns and combinations these favors will definitely leave a lasting impression.

Your personality will come out in every favor created at Occasion Favorz.  They will be unique, adorable and cost effective with the appearance of elegance.  When you get a chance, stop by our website and take a look at some of the favors created from past events to get an idea on what you want your next favor to be.
