LET'S MAKE AN ENTRANCE

Welcome back folks...last time we introduced you to the exciting world of balloon decor. Today, we are going to go more into detail with balloon arches.  These arches, which are sometimes described as balloon garland, can be used to decorate entrances, walls or just about anything your eyes desire.

Balloon arch decorations are made up of balloon clusters.  In case you don't know balloon clusters are, they consist of four or sometimes five balloons tied together that form a shape similar to a four leaf clover.  These clusters can be linked together with a monofilament line or what is also know as a fish line.  After connecting many clusters on this line you start to form your garland that can be used for both arches and columns, which we'll discuss next time. Arches can be filled with either air or helium depending on the visual effect your looking for, the size, location and the equipment being used.

Balloon arches have been used for years to decorate doorway entrances, backdrops behind a seating area, dance floor canopies and more.  They can be used indoors and outdoors and make fabulous decorations for any event or special occasion.  Another arch widely used for backdrops and entrances is the string of pearls arch, that's right, named after your classic string of pearls necklace. This arch is formed by individual balloons tied to a monofilament line roughly about a foot apart, which is what gives it that string of pearls look.  While these lines come in different colors, using the clear one will give you the best visual effect. The great thing about this arch is by using different balloon sizes and shapes, tulle or curling ribbon you can give it a beautiful and unique look.  There are many different designs that can be done with balloon arches to get the perfect effect for your event.  Just take a look at some of the ideas below and you'll see what I mean.

And now...Introducing..."Balloon Decor"

We are back! Been a little busy but we are still here. Last blog we introduced you into the magical world of balloons. You should now have an idea of the many different varieties of colors, shapes and sizes that balloons can provide for you when your decorating.  Now...let's get into even more fun stuff...Balloon Decor.

Balloon decor will make any event one worth remembering. It can include arches, columns, string of pearl arches, table/floor bouquet centerpieces and more. These decorations are simple, easy and most of all beautiful. A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of doing the decor for the Grand Opening of Sydlex Styles hair salon.  It was a beautiful yellow and white affair with fabulous balloon decorations.  I had two yellow and white 4' balloon columns with a string of pearls arch attached.  Each balloon with curling ribbon hanging from it.  Inside there were four twelve balloon topiaries with curling hanging from the center and about 25-30 free floating helium filled balloons also with curling ribbon.  I also created a yellow and white wishing well with comic book style letters to match the theme of the shop.

In the end, balloon decor can be one of the best ways to decorate any event at a low cost and you can still enjoy the same glamor.  Occasion Favorz will help you make your ideas a realty.  Next time we will go more in depth on balloon arches and string of pearl arches.  As always you can visit us online at http://shop.occasionfavorz.com or contact us to help decorate your next event. And...make sure you keep an eye out, Occasion Favorz is working on its official website that gives more insight about our company, services and past events.

Until then...Happy Party Planning!

THE BALLOONS ARE HERE!

What's a great party without BALLOONS...A fun and easy way to decorate any event.  Balloons have been around for many many years being used for decorations, gift bouquets and more. And what's better than summertime fun with a great water balloon fight.  And while balloons are fun for balloon fights they are even more visually pleasing as balloon decor.

Balloons allows you to create so many different designs and themes.  From your standard latex and mylar balloons to your GEO shapes and giant character shapes.  By the way, did you know that latex balloons were invented in 1824, the same year as the electromagnet.  Wow!!! Did you also know that latex comes from rubber trees that grow in the rain forest and one tree can produce latex up to 40 years! I thought that was amazing.  Just another fun fact for you.

Anyway, getting back to balloons, their main purpose it to bring joy and happiness to all events and guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face.  There is an extraordinary range of 70+ colors and finishes and they range in size from 5" to 36" for latex balloons.  For mylar balloons there are the air filled balloons that come in 4" to 14" and helium filled that range from 18" to 40". These balloons come in shapes like your standard round, stars, hearts, bubble balloons, character shapes and a bunch of message balloons from happy birthday and congrats to it's a baby and I love you. And...if you thought that was it, its not.  They also have many different patterns like the marbleized colors, animal prints, polka dots, star designs, baby themes, wedding bells and more.  Balloons give you such an amazing variety of themes and ideas that using it as balloon decor for any event makes decorating simple.  By the way, balloon decor will be the topic of our next blog.

Over the next few weeks we are going to look even more into the world of balloons and how they can work for you. Tune in next time and catch our insight on balloon decor and get ideas on what you to do for your next event.  Until then, check us out online, same place, http://shop.occasionfavorz.com.

GARNISH WITH TULLE!

If you've been searching for a way to make your decorations or designs look softer and even more elegant, the answer to your search is tulle.  Tulle is a soft, lightweight, very fine netting material usually made of silk, nylon and rayon.  Tulle has been used in a variety of decorations and clothing over the years.  And here's a nice decorating fun fact...did you know that tulle was named after Tulle, France, the center of lace and silk production in the 18th century?  Man I tell ya, you learn something new everyday!

Tulle, which is most commonly used for veils, wedding gowns and ballet tutus, has definitely played its part in bringing a softer elegance to favors, centerpieces and balloon decorations.  The great thing about tulle is that it comes in so many different colors and is a very very easy material to work with.  Tulle can be one of the most inexpensive decorations you can use for any event.  You can use tulle to make bows, wrap around favors, gift baskets and more.  It's also used in balloon decor like centerpieces, balloon arches and columns.  Use it to line the aisle for your wedding or in your flower bouquet.  Tulle comes in different lengths and widths depending on the job at hand.  They also have tulle circles with different patterns and designs like for baby showers and weddings.  These circles are great for small favors if your wrapping Jordan almonds or mints and tying a personalized ribbon around it. Another simple favor idea!

With so many possibilities for the use of tulle, you can turn any design into an elegant masterpiece.  All it takes is a little creativity.  Well folks, I guess that's it for now.  Tune in next time as we step into the magical world of Balloons.  And as always, you can see more of our products and decorations online at http://shop.occasionfavorz.com.

Until next time...Happy Party Planning!

FLOWERS AND ACCESSORIES....FAVOR MUST HAVES

Flowers and Accessories...two fabulous elements that should be included in every favor or centerpiece design.  So...what makes these elements so fabulous, well, flowers can be bright, bold, calming and just down right beautiful.  There are so many different types of flowers, different colors and arrangements that you can use within your designs.  They are the most appreciated decoration on any favor or centerpiece.  The great thing to remember about flowers is that the colors represent so many feelings and emotions that will ultimately give you the theme of your event like love, friendship and purity to name a few.  But unlike big flower centerpieces where it may be a great choice to use real flowers, when you are doing favors you obviously want to use the smaller miniatures flowers. Yes, these flowers may be artificial but they still have the same impact just without the wonderful fragrances.  Miniature artificial flowers come in many many different colors and types like the miniature ribbon roses which can be made out of any kind of ribbon or bought pre-made. The real size single roses are sometimes made of polyester, paper, nylon or silk. You also have the poly rose, acrylic flowers, the satin organza flower and more. They also range in colors like blue, purple, red, yellow, apple green, fuchsia, orange and of course white.  You can use any of these flowers in designs for centerpieces, baby or bridal shower favors and other special events and occasions.  These flowers may be artificial but definitely a beautiful alternative to using real flowers and can save you money.

Now, for those glamor lovers that want the shiny, sparkling accessories...bezel, gems stones, and acrylic shapes are definitely for you.  That's right, just like those adorable bezels that you put on phones, clothes and just about anything you can think of.  If you want to add sparkle, creativity and sass to your design this is the way to go.  When arranged the right way like around the base, to line the top or edge, even to create a letter initial, they can make any favor or centerpiece look like millions.  There's a great variety of shapes and sizes like your standard circles, ovals, stars, crosses, butterflies and more.  With the many colors to choose from it's almost impossible to not find a coordinating color for your design.  These accessories and embellishments look great when they are laid on top of a beautiful satin ribbon.  And if you don't have time to glue these on they also have the self adhesive ones if your pressed for time.  Just remember when you are creating your favors, centerpieces or other decorations, make sure you incorporate flowers and accessories into your creations because these elements help to enhance your theme and overall design.

So what's next on the decor list? Try adding some Tulle. This wonderful fabric adds even more elegance and softness to your favors and decorations and very easy to work with.  Tune in next time for some more insight on that.  Well folks, that's my time.  As always you can visit us online at our website http://shop.occasionfavorz.com to see more of our products and designs.  And if you have any comments or suggestions don't forget to let us know.

Happy Party Planning!

RIBBONS MAKE MAGIC

We are back and we're talking about RIBBONS!!!  No favor is really complete without fabulous ribbons to accent it.  Ribbons are one of the most important elements to any favor design or centerpiece.  Ribbons will bring your favors a kind of elegance and charm that most times can not be achieved without it.  Think about it, how many special events or occasions have you attended that didn't have some sort of ribbon being used for decorations or favors.

So, why add ribbons?  Ribbons, when turned into bows, can turn any dull or boring favor into a magical masterpiece.  And with so many different styles, patterns, textures, colors and sizes of ribbons out there, it's almost impossible to not find a ribbon that will compliment your favor or event.  Ribbons can vary in many different sizes from 1/8" to 4" wide. Naturally like anything else, when you are determining what size ribbon to use on a favor, you always want to make sure the ribbon is in proportion to the size of the favor you are creating.  There's nothing worst than having a small favor or centerpiece with big ribbon bows in the front.  You want the ribbons to stand out within the favor, not over shadow it.  There are many many tones and tints of colors to choose from like your blues, pinks and purples to yellows, greens and reds.  Of course choosing the right color ribbons will have a major impact on its "WOW" factor.

Ribbons also range in different patterns and textures.  Some ribbon patterns include polka dots, stripes, plaids, two-tone, animal prints and more.  So if you are the zebra or cheetah print kind of person, these prints are a great way to go when your creating favors for themed events.  Other patterns like plaids and stripes, depending on the color, are widely used for festive occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas.  And most common, the red, white and blue stripe for...that's right The 4th of July, which is literally right around the corner so make sure your ribbons are in order.  The texture of the ribbon is probably most key in choosing your ribbons for favors and events.  You have single and double face satin, picot edge, grosgrain, satin acetate and organza to name a few.  Single and double face satin ribbons are the most used ribbons when it comes to favors, decorating and packaging.  Both of these ribbons are satin which is what gives it that soft shiny appearance.  While single face ribbons are only shiny on one side, double face ribbons are shiny on both sides which explains the extra stiffness to it and increased elegance.  Both of these ribbons can be used in different ways that sometimes will boil down to which is more cost effective and most compliments the favors or decorations you are doing at the time.  While both of these ribbons are great for decorating favors, packages and centerpieces, when it comes to personalized ribbons, it's often better to use double face because of its stiffness and added elegance.

So the next time you are getting favors made, make sure you take time to add the right kind of ribbons.  And nothing goes better with ribbons than flowers and accessories which will be the focus of next week's blog.  Well folks, my time is up so until next time don't forget to visit our website at shop.occasionfavorz.com.  Happy Party Planning!
